What to Expect with Karen
Karen sees both women and men and mainly treats conditions of an orthopedic nature (such as shoulder and neck pain), sports injuries, back pain, pelvic pain, and myofascial conditions (i.e., patients with long standing musculoskeletal pain originating from the spine.)
Karen has an ICBC vendor number and is able to provide physiotherapy for your ICBC claim. Please choose the ICBC initial appointment for your first visit after an accident, and the ICBC subsequent appointments for any appointments that are needed after.
Your First Visit
When you book your initial visit, you will be emailed a link to complete our intake form. Please fill it in prior to coming in. This will give Karen prior knowledge of the matter at hand, as well as a full health history that allows her to know what modifications might be needed, or if this treatment is right for you.
What to wear:
Please come in or bring active wear to change into.
Ladies: wear a sports bra, or a light t-shirt over a regular bra. Full bottom panties, or a pair of shorts.
Men: Pair of shorts. T-shirt if you’d like.
Assessment and treatment will be done with the patient clothed as such. (Jeans, thick clothing makes things too difficult!)
Initial Assessment
An initial assessment would include discussion of subjective complaint(s) of patient's condition and corresponding special tests to assess and determine root cause of the patient's complaint. Treatment may include manual therapy, use of modalities, dry needling/IMS, soft tissue techniques, functional and rehabilitative exercises. A treatment plan is developed and adjusted as necessary.
Subsequent Visits
Subsequent visits should be booked at least a week after the previous visit, to allow your body to integrate the changes from the treatment. Continue to bring/wear your active wear. Subsequent treatments include reassessment and progression when ready.
Booking Your Appointments
All of our bookings are done online. For instructions about how to make an appointment, visit our FAQ page or click here. Remember, you can add yourself to the wait list should you not find an appointment time that suits you and we will contact you if slots open up.
